On April 18, Mid-Atlantic Steel Fab. Assoc. member Scott Vesper (Southern New Jersey Steel) and AISC’s Hope Hrabowy gave a guest lecture to civil engineering students at Rowan University–the second talk as part of our growing partnership with the program.
The presentation was packed with practical insights for students preparing to enter the workforce, including tips on steel design, collaborating with fabricators, selecting material sizes, and understanding the full life cycle and recyclability of structural steel. We also pointed students toward helpful resources to stay plugged into the industry.
The students were highly engaged, asking insightful questions–many of which focused on opportunities within the steel industry. One Rowan student is already putting that curiosity into action through an internship at Southern New Jersey Steel.
We’re excited to see this partnership continue to grow and look forward to inspiring even more young professionals to consider careers in steel!
