Hoover-Mason Trestle

101 Founders Way, Bethlehem, PA 18015
Allow one hour for optional self-guided tour

Completed in 1907, the Hoover-Mason Trestle connected Bethlehem Steel’s ore yards to the blast furnaces at the heart of the plant. For almost a century, cars ran along it daily, delivering the ingredients for making iron. Today, it has been reimagined as an elevated park and pedestrian walkway. Member companies Levan Associates, Inc. and LVTA fabricated and detailed the steel for this unique project which was completed in 2015.

Please allow 15 minutes travel time to drive from the HMT to Lehigh campus.

Lehigh University ATLSS Center
Organized tour begins at 4:00 p.m. Please arrive 5-10 minutes prior to start of tour.

The Center for Advanced Technology for Large Structural Systems (ATLSS) at Lehigh University is a multi-directional experimental laboratory sponsored by the National Science Foundation. Its mission is to conduct cutting-edge research for civil and marine infrastructure and it is one of the largest of its kind in North America.

Lehigh University Fritz Engineering Lab
Organized tour begins upon completion of ATLSS tour.

The national historic civil engineering landmark that is Fritz Lab occupies a venerable place in the story of modern structural engineering. Originally built in 1909, new construction in 1955 added two high-bay testing areas to the research facility, including a 5,000,000 pound testing machine! The lab is active daily, testing structural members and components for industry and research.

Tour expected to conclude by 5:30 p.m. Please allow 30 minutes travel time to drive from Lehigh campus to Coca Cola Park.

We will end the day at the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs Baseball Game vs. Gwinnett Georgia Braves at Coca-Cola Park
